Essential parts
To help you detect a problem with your exhaust system, we’re going to explain the role of the parts we believe make up the backbone of the exhaust system. Bear in mind that a noisy sound is often the sign of a fault. Is it the hose? The muffler? The catalytic converter? Or just a leaky pipe? Come and see us for a free estimate.
The exhaust system (which includes the muffler) is a device for limiting the noise produced by exhaust gases, reducing both the speed and temperature of the gases escaping from the engine.
Catalyst
The catalytic converter completes the combustion cycle and prevents certain deadly gases from escaping.
Resonator
The resonator allows the attenuation to be spread over more than one point on the line.
Muffler
The Muffler helps to attenuate sound, acting as a relaxation pot.
Flexible
The hose allows the system to move while adapting to the motor’s movements.
